St Katherine’s church, Holt a winter wedding.

St Katherine’s church in Holt is just a short walk from Laura & Mike’s home. Despite it being the local village church it was clear to see why the couple wanted to get married there. The church is stunning and has beautiful tall stain glass windows at either end of the church, letting in the little available December light.

I met Laura at Homewood Park hotel, her reception venue where she was also getting ready. The big suite was filled with her family and bridesmaids, all excited for the day ahead. Champagne in hand as lulu was doing her hair and make-up, it wasn’t long before it was time to put on her gorgeous wedding dress.

Her father arrived to take her to the car, he looked so happy to see his daughter all dressed up. As you would expect for a winter wedding, the weather wasn’t great it had been raining most of the morning but that didn’t put a damper on the mood. The pair were both smiling from ear to ear as they left for St Katherine’s church.

Mike looked blown away when he saw his bride walk down the aisle. His eager wait was soon over as he first watched the eight bridesmaids lead the way. By the time Laura arrive by his side the pair both looked overwhelmed with joy as they were reunited. It was clear to see on their faces just how deeply in love they both are.

Being so close to Christmas the church was decorated for the festive period, a Christmas tree and pine cones making their winter wedding feel even more special. A string quartet played music as the guests left and despite the rain confetti was still thrown outside the church.

The pair left together in a silver vintage car heading back to Homewood park hotel where they were met with welcome drinks as new husband and wife.

With gaps in the rain we then headed outside for some couple portraits and a few of the guests before it was time for the wedding breakfast. Speeches followed starting with the father of the bride, the groom and two best men. There was lots of laughter as the boys told stories about Mike and how he met Laura. Nothing to incriminating was given away although I got the impression they had loads more they could of cheekily shared!

The evening began with cake cutting which was a lovely fresh homemade cake made by her friend Jo. The couple then kicked off the first dance with ”All of me”. The guests joined them on the dance floor shortly afterwards.

Before leaving I headed outside with Laura and Mike to grab a couple night time shots that they had asked for. The building of Homewood park made a great back drop and was the perfect way to the finish the day.
