Looking for your Tortworth Court wedding photographer? I’ve got you covered!

De Verve Tortworth court is a wedding venue of photographers dreams

It is one of the best wedding venues that South Gloucestershire has to offer. The Orangery is the most beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony.

I’ve been capturing weddings here for many years but it never gets old.

I created this guide to share my experiences and insights having got to know the venue and grounds so well. This will be helpful for couples considering getting married at Tortworth Court.

I offer both wedding photography and wedding videography at Tortwoth Court. This can be either be as a package with both services or booked separately.

Tortworth Court Wedding photography – A Photographers Perspective

Tortworth Court is a photographers dream. It’s wonderful Orangery is the perfect setting for a wedding. The large glass dome lets in natural light all day long making it perfect for summer and winter weddings.

The grounds at Tortworth offer diverse backdrops in every direction. The manicured lawns are pristine all year long whilst the flowers and gardens change seasonally always offering beautiful tones.

There are plenty of places for family photos whether you choose the archways, front of house or the steps. The elderly don’t need to walk too far for the perfect photo.

In the evening I like to add a touch of creative flare by using off camera flash. Utilising the building being lit up is one of the best backdrops for incorporating the venue in the background.

The Best Photography Locations at Tortworth Court

One of the biggest advantages of being a wedding photographer at Tortworth Court is the variety of backdrops it has to offer. Simply take a walk through the grounds and there are numerous locations to take photographs. Here are some of my favourite places for photos:

The Orangery

Not only great for the wedding ceremony, this unique looking building is perfect for couple portraits too. As a photographer natural soft lighting is what we crave and the orangery provides just that. Flooded with light all day long, it creates a dreamy atmosphere for some of those intimate moments.

The Backdrop of the House

Utilise the main house as a back drop, there are several key locations you can stand where the house falls into the background.

The Steps

Great for the group shot, family photos and couple portraits. I always utilise the steps on a wedding day. Giving the advantages of adding height and separating people from each other steps offer a unique perspective.

The Grounds and Gardens

Utilise the main house as a back drop, there are several key locations you can stand where the house falls into the background.

The Grand Staircase

Located inside the main house, the dark wooden panelled staircase is one of the most icon features of this venue. The U-shaped stairs wind down into the reception area offering a magnificent backdrop for photographs whether its bridal portraits, couple portraits of family photos.

Tips for Couples Planning Their Wedding Photography at Tortworth Court

Schedule time for couple portraits

Instead of one long couple session taking you away from your guests, I advise my couples to split their portraits into smaller chunks throughout the day. This makes the most out of the changing light and gives us options for variety. Allocate some time during the drinks reception, golden hour and also in the evening to take advantage of some creative night shots.

Don’t worry about the weather

It rains a lot in the UK but don’t let the thought of that spoil your wedding day. The chances are there will be some breaks allowing you to get outside but also don’t forget Tortworth Court has great indoor areas. We can take advantage of archways, windows, the staircase and other pockets of light in cosy corners. Let me as your photographer guide you and embrace what the venue has to offer.

Treasure the time with your guests

Weddings days go so quickly, so I promise I won’t take up too much of your time. I would much rather capture candid moments of you talking to your guests and allowing you to spend that time with them than capturing posed static moments. Real laughter and human connection is where the magic of a precious photos lies.

Let the seasons guide you

Stuck for ideas on how to decorate the venue, what flowers to choose or colours scheme to pick? Instead of feeling overwhelmed by endless options, why not let the seasons inspire you? Each time of year brings its own unique charm, fresh pastels in spring, vibrant tones in summer, and warm, earthy tones in autumn and winter.
