Summer wedding at the Paintwork’s Bristol

Living just a few minutes away, I had wanted to shoot a wedding at the Paintwork’s event space in Bristol for what seemed like forever. It’s probably not the first place people think of to get married so I knew it would take a special couple to love its urban industrial feel just as much as I do. Luckily for me, Claire & James were that couple.

After saying a quick hello I started my day by photographing the venue. It was already laid out with tables and chairs, a home made sweet cart and rustic looking naked cake that was very impressive.

The bridal party were getting ready in one of the apartments located above the court yard. This stylish accommodation offers a great open plan living and sleeping space. A double height ceiling showed off Claire’s beautiful long wedding dress with its impressive tail. Her mum was there helping her get ready with the bridesmaids providing the final touches before a reveal to dad.

Once ready, Claire made her entrance down the court yard steps heading towards the wedding at the Paintwork’s event space.

Guests were already seated and James was smiling waiting patiently for his bride. The ceremony was short and sweet but they had a close friend singing some songs as they signed the register.

Afterwards guests had cocktail hour outside whilst I took the pair off for couple photos. We took a little loop around the Paintwork’s industrial estate, stopping in several places. One of their sons wanted to stay close to mum and dad so he came along for the walk and I even got him to be my little helper making mum and dad laugh giving me those natural shots.

On our return we went straight into family photo’s utilising the Paintwork’s court yard in front of the air stream.

Posh picnic style food was then served on the long tables with guests tucking into hampers of home made pork pies, quiches and meat platters.

After speeches there was a short time to enjoy the afternoon sun before the evening festivities commenced.

It was truly a pleasure photographing Claire and James’s day, everyone was so relaxed and we all had such a fantastic time.

I love the feel of the Paintwork’s with itsย bold colours and textures making it the perfect urban background, I do hope I get the opportunity to photograph there again.
